For their many demonstrations of conflict in everyday life, the
wide variety of examples they provided, and the wealth of
experience of these that drew me to a lifelong examination
of conflict at the amateur and professional levels, I dedicate
this book to my late parents—who, I have no doubt, are
bickering in heaven (good-naturedly, I hope) as I write this.
