Acknowledgments xiii Farren Davis, Kelsey Griffith, Mickey Cassella Kulak, Brian Mittelholzer, Mike Taksir, Felix Wang, Amy Whited, and Larry Murphy. It is hard to know, in the context of all of these acknowledgements, where to place Rebekah Mannix, MD, MPH. She is the leader of the multidisciplinary traumatic brain injury research lab and associate director of the Brain Injury Center at Boston Children’s Hospital. She is my main collaborator on all clin- ical research, basic science research, and outreach efforts. She is my mentor, career guide, and confidant. I owe her enormous thanks. Most importantly, I must acknowledge the constant patience and support of my wife, Marie, who has allowed me to spend countless hours studying concussive brain injury, conducting clinical and scientific research, running the Micheli Center, co-leading the Football Players Health Study at Harvard, and preparing this book. She gave me the time I needed to dedicate to this book by keeping up our home and caring for our children. She found me a speech recognition software program to assist with writing, as I am still a hunt-and- peck typist. She provides general counsel for all of my career decisions and all of my life decisions. To each and every person noted here, I am truly grateful. Bill Meehan, MD
