Acknowledgments It turns out that wealth creation and writing a book, like other notable markers in life, are best experienced in the company of other people. Not long ago, I was a neophyte author with an idea, and I’ve been fortunate to be blessed by an incredible team of supporters, teachers, truth-tellers, and experts who all wanted to be part of this journey. Honestly, I really couldn’t and wouldn’t want to go it alone, anyway. Cheers to all those who contrib- uted to making this book a reality! Most important, I’m deeply grateful for my wife, Kelle, who has been my partner, co-creator, and chief encourager in business and life. Over three-plus decades, you have always believed in me and what I wanted to accomplish, gave me the space to grow and evolve, and challenged and inspired me to be the best version of myself. Thank you for the encour- agement to keep moving forward and the gentle reminders that God has a plan. I love you! Thank you to my parents, adult kids (and spouses), and my extended family for your unconditional love and support. Specifically, Sherry, Ray, Janet, Mike, and Jeanne, I hope this book honors you and the important influence you’ve had on my life and whom I’ve become. In addition, thank you to Colten, Ivy, Trevor, Brooke, Cassius, Danielle, and Ryan. I love you all very much, and you are the essence of true wealth to me. Thank you to the clients of Highland Private Wealth Management. You allow me into your financial and personal lives, the good and the messy. You gave me the opportunity to develop my skill as a wealth counselor and coach, to hone my theories and business acumen, and to guide and steward your most valued treasures. Without the experience I’ve gained serving you, I wouldn’t be where I am. Thank you for the loyalty, trust, and confidence you placed in me.
