Be the Change You Wish to See 7 Cultivate Team Players Consider what approach will work best for you. Regardless of the strat- egy you choose, be sure to work at making professional friends along the way. It will help grow your army of innovators and help you build trust when you ask teachers to be brave for their students and implement new technology in their classrooms. In addition to taking the time to make per- sonal connections with our students, it is equally as important to make personal connections with our colleagues. Chances are that there is only one, or very few, librarians in your school. Consider how you can create a stage for yourself to showcase all the ways that you can amplify a teach- er’s classroom. As George Couros (2018) writes, “While we focus on being ‘champions’ for our kids, remember that ‘championing’ the adults in education IS serving the students. The impact on one educator can influence thou- sands (if not more) of students over a lifetime.” Sharing personal connec- tions with our colleagues will allow them to increase their trust in us, with the goal of establishing partnerships in teaching. Transforming our relationships with teachers and administrators brings us closer to trans- forming the education of our students.
