xix Acknowledgments I want to thank all those presenters who, over the years, have had the cour- age to step up and deliver presentations without any real training to do so. For many, it was trial and error, sink or swim. I offer special thanks to my wife, Cecelia, for putting up with me when I repeatedly asked, “What do you think about including such and such?” Her responses helped provide focus to this book her overall editing helped make the book be more readable. I want to thank Dr. Rebecca Sivarajah, whose spark regarding the need to project enthusiasm motivated me to start this project in the first place. Her concrete examples helped justify that this book’s message applies to any and all presenting venues. Finally, I want to thank all the authors across many disciplines who wrote articles highlighting the importance of enthusiastically and passionately delivering presentations. I tried to build upon their work. I wish to offer special acknowledgment to my wife, Cecelia my son, David my daughter, Becky and to my five grandchildren, Sebastian, Olivia, Ethan, Noah, and Henry. Collectively, they are my best presentation yet! A special thanks to Cathy Sargent Mester, a valued colleague, who helped pioneer many of the ideas presented in this book.
