As has unfortunately been the case, American national security is consumed by fighting the fires of today and perhaps the near term with scant atten- tion to how decisions now will create the conditions of grand strategy in the future. Finally, the new economic revolution is dominated by “new space” advocates, primarily from the private sector, who are often ambiva- lent, ignorant, or in some extreme cases, uncaring about the military, secu- rity issues, and great power conflict. This book addresses this and tries to offer insight into why we are here and where we are going—questions that guarantee future American primacy.
